School fire in Moss Vale

Firefighters from Moss Vale, Bowral, Mittagong and the Zone Commander responded to a fire in a school in Argyle Street, Moss Vale this morning. The first fire crews were on scene in eight minutes to find smoke pouring from a three level building. Crews wearing breathing apparatus found the fire in the basement area and had the fire contained and under control in less than one hour, saving the building from further damage. The bottom level suffered severe damage and the upper levels were affected by heat and smoke. During the emergency 177 students and 45 staff were evacuated. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
