Numerous Triple Zero (000) calls were received this morning to a house fire in Bay View Street, McMahons Point. Fire crews from The Rocks, Crows Nest, Neutral Bay, Pyrmont and the Duty Commander responded to the emergency. Crews arrived in five minutes to find a fire in the kitchen and roof area of a residential unit. The unit was one of six in a four level building. Firefighters carried out a thorough search of the unit, stopped the fire from spreading further and extinguished it. Fire crews from Hurstville, Kogarah, Miranda, Mortdale and the Duty Commander attended a house fire in Castle Street, Blakehurst this afternoon. Crews arrived in seven minutes to find the top level of a two storey house engulfed in flames and made sure all of the occupants had escaped the fire.
