Bush fire in Tingira Heights

Published: 14th January 2009

Numerous Triple Zero (000) calls were received this afternoon to a bush fire in Burton Road, Tingira Heights. Firefighters from Tingira Heights, Charlestown, Cardiff, Belmont and the Duty Commander responded to the fire with the first crews on scene in three minutes. The fire was burning in an area that was difficult to access and firefighters battled for nearly eight hours to extinguish the fire and carry out mopping up operations over the four hectares of bush involved in the blaze. The fire did not threaten any homes and was extinguished using four urban pumpers, five tankers and two RFS tankers.
