House fire in Phegans Bay

Numerous Triple Zero (000) calls were received this morning to a house on fire in Wattle Crescent, Phegans Bay. Firefighters from Umina, Gosford, Kariong and the Duty Commander responded to the fire and on arrival found a single storey house engulfed in flames with reports that people may have still been inside. Fire crews were able to quickly begin an attack on the fire, confirm that all occupants had escaped and also protect the adjoining properties from the radiant heat. The fire was extinguished after two hours with the house suffering extensive damage. Two people were taken to hospital and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
