School fire in West Wallsend

Early this morning firefighters from West Wallsend, Minmi, Cardiff and the Duty Commander responded to a fire in a school in Appletree Road, West Wallsend. On arrival fire crews found a single level demountable classroom engulfed in flames and quickly began an attack on the fire. Firefighters took two hours to completely extinguish the fire. The classroom and the contents were severely damaged by the blaze and the cause is being investigated.
