Rhodes building fire

Firefighters from Rhodes, Ryde, Concord, Parramatta, Gladesville, Eastwood and the Duty Commander responded to a fire in a building under construction in Walter Street, Rhodes this afternoon. Fire crews were on scene in eight minutes to find smoke pouring from the top levels of an eight storey building. Firefighters quickly accounted for all employees at the construction site and used a hydraulic ladder fire engine and several fire hoses to contain and extinguish the fire which was on the seventh and eighth levels of the building. There were no injuries reported and investigations are continuing into the cause of the fire.
