Factory fire in Chipping Norton
Published: 4th December 2008
Numerous Triple Zero (000) calls were received early this morning to a fire in a factory in Barry Road, Chipping Norton. Firefighters from Liverpool, Revesby, Cabramatta, Chester Hill, Bankstown, Busby, Hazmat specialists from Greenacre and two Duty Commanders responded to the fire. Fire crews arrived to find an industrial unit ablaze with the fire spreading to adjoining units. A hydraulic ladder fire engine was used to battle the fire as crews forced entry into the neighbouring units to stop the fire from spreading further. Hazmat specialists set up booms and barriers to limit run off water entering drains and a waste collection truck was used to remove water. Firefighters battled the blaze for several hours, containing the fire in two units, which suffered extensive damage. Fire crews assisted with the clean up and council organised for the drains to be cleaned. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
