Truck fire in Goulburn
Published: 17th November 2008
Late this evening firefighters from Goulburn, Bowral and the Duty Commander responded to a truck alight in Combermere Street, Goulburn. Firefighters arrived within nine minutes to find a tabletop truck containing 450 bales of straw engulfed in flames. The flames were reaching overhead power lines and thirty people from nearby properties were evacuated due to the thick smoke and flying embers. Fire crews worked for several hours extinguishing the straw as it was removed from the truck with a backhoe. Once the fire was knocked down and the area safe, the damaged overhead electrical cables were replaced by the electrical authority.
