Rescue at Girilambone

Published: 17th November 2008

This afternoon the rescue firefighters from Nyngan Fire Station responded to a country property on Booroomugga Rd, Girilambone where a man was trapped by the leg in the auger of a harvester. On arrival the crew were faced with a complicated rescue. After liaising with NSW Ambulance paramedics and a doctor that had arrived in the CareFlight Helicopter, the rescue firefighters began the delicate operation of pulling apart sections of the auger to provide better access for the doctor and Ambulance paramedics. Once the trapped person was stabilised rescue fire crews removed the remaining obstacles and the man was safely extricated onto a spine board. He was transported to a Sydney hospital by the CareFlight Helicopter.
