NSW deploys search and rescue personnel to JapanNSW State Emergency Operations Controller and NSW Police Force Deputy Commissioner Dave Owens, have announced that NSW had been requested by the Australian Government to send a specialist urban search and rescue team to Japan following the devastating earthquake.
Fire and Rescue NSW is the lead agency for urban search and rescue and will manage the deployment. The 76-person multi-agency team left from Richmond RAAF Base for Japan on Sunday.
