If offered employment as a Retained Firefighter you will complete eight days of training. This includes two sessions of four days each with training conducted at one of our facilities at Albion Park, Deniliquin, Wellington, Armidale or Alexandria.

Phase I training will include familiarisation with firefighting techniques, use of equipment and work health and safety procedures.  Phase 2 will build on this, with instruction in first aid, basic life support and the use of defibrillators and rescue equipment. All Retained Firefighters continue to receive ongoing training including fortnightly drills at their local fire station. This allows everyone to work as a cohesive and specialised team, and respond with professionalism and expertise each and every time!

FRNSW is a registered training organisation and will provide all the training and support you need, but it helps to have common sense and enthusiasm to work in a team.
