Fires
Our firefighters fight many different types of fires. Because we are responsible primarily for urban areas (we protect 90% of the State’s population from emergencies involving fires), we specialise in fighting fires in buildings and other structures. However, we also fight bushfires in the areas we are responsible for and assist the Rural Fire Service, National Parks and Wildlife, State Forests and other firefighting agencies in other areas. We also deal with fires in all forms of transport, industrial fires and rubbish fires.
Being a firefighter
Firefighting involves both suppression and prevention of fires to minimise the impact on the and threat of fire on the community.
